The Oppo A74 5G was released on 13th April 2021, a day before the Oppo A54 5G was released.
Just like the Oppo A54 5G, this phone has the futuristic 5G that will hopefully be fully accessible in all parts of Australia soon. While you wait on that, there are loads more features to love and enjoy about the Oppo A74 5G phone.
What makes the A74 5G one of the most desirable Oppo phones of 2021? Find out here.
First things first: The Look
This phone offers a lot for its price range but maintains a simple plastic casing on its sides and back. Still, this is acceptable for a 5G phone. You get two colour options: fluid black or space silver, and both give the phone a sleek, appealing look.
You get dual colours looking at the back of the phone at different lighting and angles, which is a special little addition.
This dual Sim phone weighs in at 190 grams and measures 162.9 x 74.7 x8.4mm.
While the plastic casing is thin, you will notice the phone’s borders get about thick around the display.
The top left corner is a punch hole with a selfie camera. This is small, aptly placed, and seemingly out of the way.
Another cool feature is the side-placed fingerprint sensor that’s often on the front or back of most phones.
Camera
The quality of a phone camera has become a huge consideration in phone purchase decisions.
The A74 5G comes with a 48MP main sensor with a F1.7 aperture. Supporting sensors include 2MP macro and depth sensors. With these, you get four back cameras and one selfie camera. While the photos produced are of good quality, they lack the sharpness delivered by higher range phones. The primary camera can take excellent quality photos with great detail during the day in good lighting.
You can also shoot videos on 1080 at 30fps. Unfortunately, 4k video recording is not available on this device.
Battery Life
Often, budget phones tend to hold up better battery life than pricier flagship phones. The A74 5G is no exception.
Its 500mAh battery is likely to support calls, texting, browsing, gaming, and more for an entire day when fully powered. This takes out the headache of bringing your charger everywhere, and quite frankly, some lifestyles cannot sustain it. You also get fast charging 18W on this phone, but no wireless charging.
Performance
This phone performs slightly better than the A54 and runs on Snapdragon 480, 6GB of RAM, and 128GB of storage.
The Qualcomm SD480 5G is a new system-on-chip-version that includes WIFI, GPS, True Wireless, and enough AI. The AI, for one, learns your phone brightness preferences and implements them.
The Verdict
The Oppo A74 5G is currently priced at $439.99, this phone offers good value in terms of battery lode, picture taking, and the futuristic 5G element.
It also looks great and is easy to handle, without much risk of slipping. If you are looking for an everyday phone without breaking the bank, this is a worthwhile consideration.
