Great news for iPhone owners! The highly anticipated iPhone 15 launch date has been set for September 12. Apple will be unveiling its new range of iPhones and next-generation smartwatches at 10 a.m. California time, which is 3 a.m. on September 13 in Australia.
Based on previous years’ timelines, pre-orders for the iPhone 15 are expected to begin in Australia on September 15, with in-store availability starting on September 22. So mark your calendars!
Under the tagline “Wonderlust,” Apple plans to introduce two entry-level models and two high-end models in the iPhone 15 range. One major change we can anticipate is the switch from the lightning connector charging port to a USB-C port, aligning with new European Union regulations. Additionally, updated AirPods with a USB-C charging port are also expected to be unveiled.
The entry-level iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus, featuring 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch displays respectively, are likely to receive upgrades such as the A16 chip, Dynamic Island interface, and a 48-megapixel rear camera, borrowing some features from the iPhone 14 Pro models.
For the high-end models, the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max, Apple is rumored to introduce a redesigned frame made of stronger and lighter titanium instead of stainless steel. Thinner screen borders, an advanced A17 chip using 3-nanometer production, and a new mute button may also be part of the package. Camera improvements, including a deeper optical zoom, are expected on the Pro models as well.
While pricing details have not been confirmed, it is likely that the standard models will be priced similarly to the current iPhone 14 lineup. However, there have been reports of increased pricing for the iPhone 15 Pro range.
In addition to the iPhones, Apple is set to launch the Series 9 Apple Watches and a second-generation version of the high-end Ultra model, which will feature faster chips for improved performance.
